friday favorites

I'm linking up again with ErikaAndrea and Narci for the Friday Favorites!  Thank you for visiting.  Leave me a comment so I can come see your favorites too!

Well Friday was my birthday!  I am not one to make a big deal about it usually, but as I get older I am realizing what a gift it is to be able to celebrate getting another year older.  I may or may not have had a meltdown at the end of the day because nobody sang me happy birthday and Carolina didn't even say it either.  I blamed Gustavo and he faced the disappointment tears.  We resolved to make it up over the weekend.  I have resolved to celebrate my birthday every year from now on.

Before I wrote #1 and you felt sorry for me,  I should have started the post with what we've been doing the last week.  We went to a family camp in Glorieta, New Mexico and it was so amazing!  It was so full of fun activities, great food and childcare any time we wanted it, ya'll.  They had a bunch of summer staff college students who played with the kids and loved on them all day long.  It was unlike any vacation we've ever taken.  We highly recommend it!  I want to write a post about Glorieta  because there is so much to tell.

Just look at this view up on the ski basin of Santa Fe.

Almost the same but a little different, we went the weekend before camp to stay in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  We drove 15 hours straight through and here we are just arrived at the restaurant.  Mommy had a prickly pear margarita which I drank about an inch down before I was drunk.  It's the elevation!

We rented a condo through Home Away and it really was like staying at a friend's house. This is the one we rented.  It was so nice to be in a condo instead of a noisy hotel.  The kids slept really well and so did we.  Having a washer and dryer was a bonus, plus the previous guests would leave different things that we used, like coffee.

While we were there, we celebrated Father's Day.  Here is Carolina with her portrait of Papa.  I also interviewed her some questions about Gustavo.

On the way back we stayed in Ft. Worth and just had to have a gander at the Anthropologie tag sale.  I didn't see anything I liked but on my way around the store I spotted these.

Really?  No, just no.  I'm begging that stirrup pants are not back in style.  I just can't even deal with that.

That's all for now!  I'm posting late because Glorieta doesn't like us to have free wifi.  Imagine that, unplugging and spending time with the family.  More on that later!

xoxo-Jennifer

Friday Favorites

friday favorites

Today I am linking up with Momfessionals and Grace and Love to write about my Friday Favorites!

Carolina and I got matching Converse shoes!  We were both so excited to get them in the mail yesterday.  We still may need to exchange sizes and maybe even the style, but we will definitely be sporting some very soon.

Carolina has flat feet and needs inserts in her shoes which is why we may have to try the different style.  Those soles are glued down and not going anywhere!  Anyone have advice on trying to either take them out or fitting insoles in?

Nico wanted to get in on the action too.  I love his little chubby feet.

Summer clothes shopping is here!  I say that like I love it and I so don't love buying shorts.  I go in the dressing room with a sense of dread and look for the ones I hate the least.  That's so terrible to say and I was hyper aware of anything I said to the salesperson with Carolina in there.  I don't want her to have body image issues.  I don't want myself to have them!

The way I'll decide if I like something in the dressing room is to take a picture and see myself in them.  I'm going to post those pictures so you can see how they look on me compared to the model on the website, for reference.

These are the Pilcro denim shorts.  They were the darkest wash and they seem to be comfy so far.  They stretched out just enough to make them not so tight on my legs like the picture of me wearing them. Also, they are 25% off.

I also got these camo shorts from Anthropologie here .  I sized down to a 26 and I normally wear a 27.  These seem to work like a neutral with a lot of my tops.  I love them and seeing on how much I wore my army green military jacket in the winter, they are going to be my favorite.

This is me wearing the same ones but the grey color.  I didn't get the grey.

The third is a funny story about when I was in Anthropologie last weekend.   I was near the checkout by a young teenage girl and she was exclaiming how much she loved the scrunchies that are shown here.  Scrunchies! I just looked at her while she continued to extol the benefits of scrunchies in her hair and how they don't crease it.

I just really couldn't even process it except to shake my head and acknowledge that the 80's are back and in full force.  The high waisted pants brought their scrunchies with them and we're all doomed.  Just kidding, I think.

Thanks for reading!  That's all I have for this Friday.  I hope you all have a lovely Memorial Day weekend!

If you love Anthropologie style, see this

This commercial reminds me so much of Anthropologie. When it comes on I am so mesmerized by her unique voice and her style. I just stare at the TV like a 2 year old stares at Teletubbies, mesmerized.

So if you like Anthropologie, enjoy this commercial.

One more thing if you love Anthropologie style but don't love the prices, try Ruche. This online shop has some really cute and affordable items. They sell out fast but if you get on their email list you can see them when they first come out. I've gotten a couple shirts and a pair of earrings from them.

What about you? Where do you find inspiration and deals on your clothes. I love Etsy too because it supports small businesses. Send me the link to your favorites so I can be inspired too.

Breakfast At Anthropologie

After my last post about Anthropologie style, I went wandering around the web looking for kindred spirits when I found this blog that I know you'll like too.  The clever name is enough to get you in the door, but the content will keep you coming around.  I've just discovered it and am enjoying it one bite at a time, so if you liked my last post about quirky chic, you'll like her blog too.

I'm brewing lots of posts in my mind, but haven't gotten them all in written format yet.  Thanks Sherri for the nudge, or was it a bloggy bullying shove telling me to get my ducks in a row? :) Either way, I just wanted to take away that "no post in four weeks" shame hanging over my head!
